The “Spectacular Showcase” returns this December 28th and 29th at 3:00pm after a successful run in December 2015.  Sponsored by the Town of Oakville, the high-energy cabaret style variety show was virtually sold out for both performances last year. A talented mix of close to 50 performers took to the stage at the Queen Elizabeth Park Community & Cultural Centre’s “Black Box Theatre” making it the largest show yet staged at the facility. The audiences were entertained by a talented mix of singing, dancing and other varied entertainers reviving the “Spectacular” concept of the 90’s.

This year’s show promises to be another lively cabaret with new acts and old favourites. There will be dance, song, comedy and more!

New Format with 3 performance categories to choose from:

  1. Individuals or groups – age 40+ up (audition required). Some acts may include comedy, solo singing, group dancing, musical instrumentation.*
  2. Intergenerational – performers age 40+ up with younger performers of any age (audition required). Grandparents with grandchildren, adult children, older/younger friends. Grab those relatives for a friendly sing song or soft shoe dance.*
  3. Showcase Academy – group singing and simple dance moves (no audition required). Love to sing in the shower? Dance in your kitchen? Now is the time to showcase your talent. A co-ordinator will work with this group and provide a musical theme to create an act for our show.* For more information, please contact Catherine Ross at catherineross50@gmail.com

* Acts should be between 2:30 and 2:50 minutes long.

Vince Carlin, Show Director

After an illustrious career in radio and television, and now enjoying a number of acting projects, this year’s Director, Vince Carlin, has been very busy with auditions since late spring, welcoming performers aged 40 plus in all types of entertainment genres suitable for senior audiences. “Once again we have a good mix of talented performers from around the Golden Horseshoe” says Mr. Carlin. “The audiences will again be very pleased with the array of talent to be presented at this year’s cabaret style variety show”.
